Holly's remarkable recovery

Holly, age 11, came to Bodycare Clinic in August 2008 after suffering from pain in her knees for 2 years. She had been to various doctors & physiotherapists who had put her complaints down to growth spurts & over-use.

So. Holly was forced to give up most of the sports she had previously enjoyed including netball & athletics. She continued with her favourite activity which was gymnastics but had to reduce her training hours and often only took part in the body conditioning sessions because the pain in her knees prevented her from doing anything high impact. At this point in time it looked highly likely that Holly would have to give up gymnastics as well.

When Holly came to Bodycare, Steve explained that the pain in Holly's knees was a symptom of a problem in another area of the body. A ligament in the centre of her body was twisted and was pulling her lower body out of line. This was corrected on Holly's first visit. Holly then required 2 months of daily deep tissue massage performed at home & at the clinic. Steve was then able to realign her muscles & bones.

During Holly's rehabilitation, she was given a series of exercises to improve her core stability and balance. She performed these daily and by November had happily returned to gymnastics full time without any pain in her knees.

In February 2009 Holly took part in the Regional Gymnastics Tumbling Championships at K2 and won the gold medal. She will now go on to represent the South East of England at the National finals in May.
